FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – SEPTEMBER 20, 2007 – ANN ARBOR, MICH. –
On September 25 from 4-6 p.m., SRT Solutions will open the doors of its new office at 206 N. Fifth Street, Suite 200, in Ann Arbor. Prior to this, SRT has worked in home offices, met in local coffee shops, and at the Ann Arbor IT Zone. The company's growth and desire to provide a meeting space for area user groups were the catalyst for SRT's move to this space.
"We've reached a place in our business where it's important to have our own space to meet and work with our team members, and to hire additional staff. Having the space will also enable us to hold technical events and to host the different groups that are the basis of collaboration and new ideas within our industry," explained Dianne Marsh, who, in 2000, co-founded SRT Solutions with Bill Wagner. "This new space is meant to support SRT's growth as well as the growth of our colleagues and peers throughout the local software community."
SRT Solutions' new office space includes a large, central meeting space where they can host seminars, user groups and other gatherings. Adjacent to the meeting space are two conference rooms for breakout sessions or smaller client engagements, as well as a large office that Marsh and Wagner share.
With the community in mind, SRT is also planning to open part of the space to "coworking", which is often defined as community office space. "Coworking space brings together developers who work for different companies, and is often most attractive to the home office-based consultant, offering the traditional amenities of an office, but at a shared price," Marsh explained. "Rather than being centered around the needs of a company, the space is designed with the technical developer in mind. The opportunity to get together with other developers and to simply share ideas in a casual environment is compelling".
SRT Solutions began as a network of highly-skilled software developers and engineers who joined Marsh and Wagner to develop corporate software teams who needed assistance with projects. Since that time, the business has evolved from Marsh and Wagner's initial group to include 5 full-time software experts on the SRT Solutions team. The company has plans to add additional staff based on the needs of the business.
Marsh and Wagner, in addition to their accomplishments with SRT Solutions, are noted speakers and experts in the software community. Marsh, and Wagner, who is a regional director for Microsoft, are frequent speakers on optimizing business performance through software innovations, programming languages and the .Net platform.
In keeping with SRT Solutions' desire to make the office space available to local IT groups, it recently welcomed its use by the Michigan Python User Group and the Ann Arbor .NET developer group, and the Ann Arbor Computer Society will meet there starting in October. Additionally, SRT Solutions routinely host lightning talks and Open Spaces forums that bring together IT experts and technologists from around the region.
